Alan Gray lives and works in the small town of Robertson, in the winelands of the Western Cape, South Africa. He attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown, where he studied Fine Art, specialising in painting. After graduating he spent several years teaching art at various institutions throughout Southern Africa. His art varies greatly in style and technique, and he experiments with a variety of media from photography to collage work. Being born and bred in South Africa, he has developed a deep love and appreciation of the South African landscape, which is reflected in his oil paintings. His work, in all its variety, remains local in its content, and attempts to capture the unique African environment.
