Although born in Kenya, David Marrian spent many of his formative years in England. For many years he was a leading muralist in London, and his work took him to Europe and the Far East. Two of his notable commissions were murals for the Duke & Duchess of York at Sunninghill and paintings for the palace of the Sultan of Brunei. In 1990, he returned to his native Kenya, and was so captivated by its awesome landscape, he remained. For the last sixteen years he has concentrated on painting landscapes, from the palm fringed coast, through the highlands, to the vast, arid deserts in the north. His work is epic in its depiction and poignant in its grandeur.
